The Shanghai Jian’ou Chamber of Commerce was established on December 8, 1998. It has created a supportive environment for businesses and individual entrepreneurs from Jian’ou City operating in Shanghai, laying the organizational foundation for promoting economic exchanges and development between Shanghai and Jian’ou. It serves as a bridge and link between the party and government and the private enterprises from Nanping in Shanghai, and it assists the government in managing the private economy in the city.Since its establishment, the Chamber has adhered to principles of voluntary membership, self-financing, and self-management, with the president, vice presidents, secretary general, and directors elected according to the wishes of its members. The business supervisory unit is the Jian’ou City Federation of Industry and Commerce, and it accepts guidance from the Fujian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai and the Nanping General Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai.

Jian ‘ou was known as Jian Zhou in ancient times, and it’s also called Zhi city, which is located in the backland of northern Fujian, in the intersection of Jianxi and Songxi, and the city was founded in the seventh year of Emperor GaoZu of the Western Han Dynasty (200 BC), and Jian ‘an County was established in 196 AD. Since then, over 1800 years, It has served as the seat of counties, states, prefectures,and regions in succession.and the province name Fujian is derived from Fuzhou’s Fu and Jianzhou’s Jian.
Jianou is one of the first provincial-level historical and cultural cities, and there are four national cultural relic protection units: Dongyue Temple, Jianning Confucius Temple and Beiyuan Emperor hired Tea-Roasting site. There are still five ancient city gates in the city, including Weiwu Gate, Linjiang Gate, Tongji Gate and Tongxian Gate, and historical and cultural blocks such as Tiejinglan, Zizhi Street.
