Sassicaia, the king of Italian wines in the 20th century, has been ranked among the top five most popular wines globally in the “World’s Most Popular Wine List” released by Wine-Searcher, a leading wine search engine, in 2024. It stands shoulder to shoulder with other world-class wines from prestigious vineyards such as Chateau Mouton Rothschild and Château Lafite-Rothschild.

Tenuta San Guido, the birthplace of Sassicaia, is located in Bolgheri , Tuscany, Italy. It is the only winery in Italy with Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC status. The winery is renowned for its wines, horse racing, and nature reserve.

Sassicaia has been well-known since the 1980s. It won the world Cabernet Sauvignon Red Wine Blind Tasting championship held by the authoritative British magazine Decanter in London. In 1992, Robert Parker awarded the 1985 vintage of Sassicaia a perfect score of 100, successfully propelling it to the pinnacle of Italian wines. He remarked, “I often mistake Sassicaia for the 1986 vintage of Château Mouton-Rothschild.” Since then, Sassicaia has ascended to the ranks of the world’s top wines.

Nowadays, Sassicaia has become the top choice of wine critics, collectors, and enthusiasts. Regardless of the vintage, it has consistently received high scores from various rating agencies, with an average score of 96 points. It firmly holds the top spot on Wine-Searcher’s list of the most popular Italian wines.

Besides Sassicaia, the series also includes Guidalberto, Le Difese, Barrua, Montessu, and Samas, collectively forming the complete Sassicaia series. These wines also have unique characteristics, enriching the wine portfolio of the Sassicaia series and catering to the diverse tastes of wine consumers.
