With an emphasis on high academic standards, strong pastoral care and a broad and balanced curriculum, Britannica aims to emulate the very best of British independent school education.
Established in Shanghai in 2013, Britannica has already built a strong reputation among Shanghai’s parents for its delivery of a high quality education for children from age 2 to 18. The school is unique in the city, being British owned, British managed and benefiting from an experienced, dynamic and largely British teaching staff. At the same time the school embraces and celebrates a multicultural pupil population of over 39 different nationalities.
Recognising the individual language needs of its students it provides a personalised and often tailor-made native and non-native world languages programme to meet both the English and home language needs of pupils. This currently includes the provision of native Chinese, Korean, Hebrew and French lessons where required.
Parents can be confident in the school’s delivery of the world recognised high standards of the English National Curriculum and the fact that the school uses UK assessments designed to measure pupil progress against these standards.
Small classes, individual attention, personalised learning programmes and an inclusive policy in the expressive arts and sport ensure that all pupils are fully supported across the curriculum, while giving individuals the opportunity to excel in their particular talents. Our children are happy, safe, confident, supported, successful and challenged in their time at the school.
Britannica has an enviable location in Gubei, making it the natural choice of many parents living in ‘downtown Shanghai’. The school’s safe and secure campus is fully equipped with high class sporting and expressive arts facilities, state of the art science laboratories and bright spacious classrooms all facilitating an optimum learning environment in the heart of Shanghai.
With its reputation built on quality, Britannica is fast becoming the school of choice for many discerning Shanghai parents. In addition, Britannica is about to become the only international school in Shanghai offering a full ‘A Level’ programme to students over the age of 16, with the opening up of its new Sixth Form in August 2016.
Britannica is committed to Bringing the Best of British Education to Shanghai.
