Up gallery,a Danish furniture and home furnishing design museum of more than 6,000 square meters, built by 198 containers, located in No. 1328, Yixian Road, Baoshan District, Shanghai.
Danish Design has always been the pioneer of international design, and emerged a lot of world-class designers, such as Kaare Klint, Hans J.Wegner, Finn Juhl, Børge Mogensen, Arne Jacobsen, Nanna Ditzel, Poul Kjaerholm, Poul Henningsen and Verner Panton.
Many of Danish designers have been deeply influenced by ancient Chinese furniture art. Hans J. Wegner, so called‘Father of Chairs’, is one of the examples. During his lifetime, he designed more than one thousand pieces of furniture, among which there is a series of work inspired by Chinese Ming Dynasty Chair. These include the Chinese Chair, Y Chair and The Chair in its simplest form. The Chair was then frequently used in global summit.
Our most of the pieces were designed by Danish architects back in the 1930s and up to the 1960s, but the design, the vision and the craftsmanship behind is still as relevant today as it was then.
